TechRadar recommends Shuttle’s SZ170R8 for its connectivity and quality
TechRadar is part of future plc, an international media group and leading digital publisher and has given a positive review of Shuttle’s SZ170R8. Equipped with the new LGA 1151 socket, the SZ170R8 supports Intel® 6th generation (Skylake) Core™ i3/i5/i7, Pentium®, and Celeron® processors. Built-in four DDR4 memory slots, it supports dual-channel DDR4-2133 memory with the maximum capacity of up to 64GB (16GBx4). The SZ170R8 includes Intel® Gigabit LAN, SATA 6Gbps, as well as USB3.0 high-speed storage interfaces.
“This is an impressive barebones system which is really nicely designed and can pack some powerful components,” states TechRadar’s Desire Athow, “Shuttle aims it at the DIY enthusiast who may use it for a microserver, a portable gaming rig or even a home theatre PC(HTPC).”
“A loaded SZ170R8 will have an Intel Core i7 processor at its heart, 64Gb of RAM, up to eight SSDs (or four HDDs) and a dual-slot GPU. This spec will compete with ease when compared to much bigger desktop counterparts and the 500W power supply unit has the necessary firepower to handle these components comfortably,” praises Mr. Athow. The small cube size of the SZ170R8, 13.0 (L) x 8.5 (W) x 7.8 (H) inches, can accommodate up to 64GB of DDR4 memory, supports dual-slot graphics cards via PCI-E X16 slot, and supports up to three independent screens and dual-screen displays via DisplayPort and HDMI™ interfaces for a wide-open computing, gaming, or graphics experience.
