XPC SN95G5 — The computer you always wanted
Firing Squad, one of the internets largest and most recognized gaming websites, has thoroughly tested Shuttle’s star Athlon™64 XPC, the SN95G5. The SN95G5 delivered a monster performance for the Firing Squad team, and scored a phenomenal 90% on what is considered the most grueling benchmarking a computer has every seen.
Firing Squad had some very positive messages about the SN95G5, and we would like to share them with you.
“Performance: Thanks to the superb performance of its FN95 motherboard, Shuttle’s SN95G5 is capable of running just as, if not faster than a fully-fledged desktop ATX system. This probably comes as no surprise to those of you who are familiar with Shuttle’s XPCs, their motherboards have always been top-notch performers.
BIOS: For overclockers and enthusiasts, Shuttle goes out of their way to deliver a solid BIOS for the SN95G5. Bus speed options range from 200MHz-280MHz in 1MHz increments, while CPU voltages of up to 1.7V are available in increments of 0.025V. Sure, there are desktop nForce3 Ultra motherboards with more settings, but keep in mind the limited amount of space within the SN95G5’s chassis: there just isn’t enough room to keep everything cool.
G5 Chassis: Shuttle’s newer G5 chassis design incorporates a number of improvements. The stealth drive bay doors give the SN95G5 a sleek, clean look. Like all of Shuttle’s newer designs, the case is composed entirely of aluminum, with a black brushed aluminum face plate and silver accents. In our subjective opinion, this is the best-looking XPC Shuttle has put together to date.
Cooling/Noise: Shuttle’s Silent X technology works wonderfully on the SN95G5. Despite setting up a system composed of an Athlon 64 3800+, 1GB RAM, and a GeForce 6800 GT, the system ran rather quietly. In use, the GeForce 6800 GT was the loudest component within the system. The SN95G5’s power supply fan was barely audible, while the 92mm Smart Fan remained fairly quiet. We’ve even read reports from SN95G5 users with Athlon 64 FX-53 processors running with no noise problems.”
With Christmas fast approaching, make sure you order your SN95G5(s) today.
