Shuttle's XPC SB81P: 'Small form factor perfection'
Atomic MPC, Australia's favorite computer enthusiast magazine, has reviewed Shuttle's newest and coolest products in their September issue. So impressed was technical editor John Gillooly with the innovative XPC SB81P, he awarded it an outstanding 9.5 out of 10 and the prestigious “Atomic Hot” award.
This XPC is a complete redesign of Shuttle's revolutionary small form factor (SFF) architecture and is the industry's the only real SFF solution capable of handling the rigorous power and cooling requirements of the Intel® LGA 775 Pentium®4 processor. Based on the Intel 915G + ICH6-R chipset, this machine also features three Serial ATA HD bays, toolless drive installation, RAID (0,1), integrated Gigabit LAN and integrated MGA900 graphics.
“Yet again Shuttle has raised the bar with the SB81P,” praised Gillooly. “Rather than just build a system to cope with Prescott, it has gone back to the drawing board and improved nearly every aspect of its already stellar design … it could well be classed as small form factor perfection.”
To perfectly compliment the XPC SB81P, the XP17 flat panel display has been designed specifically to match the XPC's stylish exterior and powerful interior. With a host of performance features (16ms response time, 450:1 contrast resolution) and durable construction the XP17 is at home on even the most demanding user’s desks.
“It's easily converted between portrait and landscape views via the well designed stand and if you have a wall fetish, … [it can] support an official VESA-standard wall mount,” awed reviewer Nathan Davis. Better still, “[l]oading up Far Cry, the display was quite beneficial to our elite blood spillage skills and in fact this 260cd/m2 panel was a joy to play on.”
The XP17 is currently on sale in North America, Asia and Europe.
